Josai University’s Special Program for Overseas Students is streamed into two courses according to ability.
Special Course in Japanese (Beginners, 1-year course)
The aim of the Special Course in Japanese is to teach the fundamentals of Japanese systematically, up to a level where lessons at a Japanese senior high school can be understood. Students are separated into classes according to ability, where Japanese teaching specialists provide instruction suitable to their level.
In the Japanese Language course, students follow a detailed curriculum encompassing Japanese grammar, vocabulary, listening and reading comprehension, and writing. In the Japanese Culture Course, students study Japanese culture and customs, and also basic English, in the context of language comparison.

Special Course in Japanese Culture (Advanced, 1-year course)
Students taking the Special Course in Japanese Culture will further their Japanese proficiency and not only acquire specialist knowledge of Japanese language and culture, but also acquire fundamental knowledge relating to economics and business. This is a course for those who wish to become true citizens of the world equipped with an understanding of Japan and her culture.
We offer a varied program introducing Japanese Culture, Social Economics, practices which push students’ Japanese language ability ever further, business English and practical studies in Computer Technology, as well as special training courses including practical business experience, visits to public facilities and the community, and places of cultural importance.
In order to ensure the very best learning experience, many of the courses are taken by lecturers from the university’s School of Economics. Entry into Josai University, Josai International University, Josai University Graduate School, etc. is a possible next step after graduation, on the basis of academic recommendation. Also, many students go on to spread their wings in the world of business.
